GRETA PANETTIERI | LIVE PROJECTS & MORE
“I’ve always called myself a jazz singer… but not really. I improvise, but I don’t scat. I like soul and R&B but I don’t do melismas. I like melody but I’m not a pop singer. So who am I? I am what I play. I sing what I like, how I like. I let my voice be free without trying to fit it into a style. I “study” styles but they “crumble” on me.”

Unlike Sinatra, Greta indulges in complex improvisations, sometimes playful, as in the opening track Young at Heart in duo with double bass player Giuseppe Bassi, other times more complex and sophisticated, as in Jobim's piece with a free solo that looks to Bach. However, like Sinatra, Greta enters deeply into the textual narration, identifying with the subject. More closely linked to the sounds of traditional jazz are the songs Fly Me to the Moon, re-proposed in the original version in 3/4, very fresh and swinging, embellished by solo moments of voice, piano and double bass; Cole Porter's masterpiece Night and Day with an original and revitalized rhythm in 5/4 proposed by Giuseppe Bassi, a poignant Strangers in the Night that, thanks to an unexpected inversion of tonality from major to minor, and the presence of the accordion and violin, dresses itself in a sumptuous and dramatic dress. A classic, yet bold and innovative project, with a touch of lightness in perfect Sinatra spirit.
Around Greta Panettieri, there is an ensemble that enhances her work of reinterpreting Sinatra's songs: Andrea Sammartino, artistic and life partner, who once again took care of the production and the sparkling and refined arrangements from A to Z, the solid creativity of the double bass player Giuseppe Bassi who also contributes to the Live with arrangement ideas, from the multifaceted drummer Mimmo Campanale, who with Bassi forms one of the most requested rhythm sections in Italy and abroad.
The project can be requested with the participation of accordionist Vince Abbracciante who with his creativity contributes to giving depth and an intense emotional shock to songs such as It Was a Very Good Year and Strangers in the Night,

Greta says: “The songs we decided to reinterpret are great successes that belong to our past: for us they have a strong evocative power and from the first notes they are able to take us back in time, as in a quantum leap, making us experience the same emotions of those years.” With a band of great international musicians, with whom over the years she has built artistic affinity, affection and friendship that reverberate in the refinement of the songs. In addition to the stable presence of Andrea Sammartino, we find Daniele Mencarelli, one of the most interesting and complete bass players in the Italian scene; on the drums Alessandro Paternesi, another great artist, among the best in European jazz. A formation that makes this Live a high-quality show that best enhances Greta's voice and her music.
The participation of trumpeter Fulvio Sigurtà or tenor saxophonist Max Tonata can be requested for the project, according to request and availability.
The harmony between stage and audience creates a show that is fast-paced but at the same time soft and harmonious. Panettieri's concerts arouse more and more enthusiasm among the audience, who are involved and accompanied in a crescendo of emotions.

Exactly ten years after the album Non gioco più, Greta Panettieri has returned to try her hand at a new and important reworking. In this album Greta Panettieri reinterprets in an introspective and at the same time luminous way pearls such as Strangers in the Night, Fly Me to the Moon and My Way, but also more “dark” and extremely fascinating songs, such as the masterpiece by Tom Jobim and Chico Buarque The Song of the Sabiá - where a dense vocal arrangement in Bachian style serves as the basis for a Pindaric free solo, the iconic In The Wee Small Hours of the Morning by David Mann and Bob Hilliard and the fascinating One for My Baby by Harold Arlen and Johnny Mercer. Characteristic of the new arrangements proposed by Greta Panettieri and Andrea Sammartino, is the search for contemporaneity within an album with more classic colors and sounds, with a personal interpretation.
INTO MY GARDEN
Into my garden, released on January 6, 2023 and preceded by the fascinating video clip of the song “No more” presented in video premiere by Repubblica TV, is the album of maturity, carefully composed, arranged and created during three long and intense years of work.
Seven original songs plus a cover of Bob Dylan's I believe in you, with music and lyrics by Greta and her faithful producer Andrea Sammartino, who present themselves to the world as a tool to untie the knots of a contrasting world that is difficult to interpret in a univocal and definitive way.
WITH LOVE
A real playlist of memories “With Love”, the new album by Greta Panettieri. From Vasco Rossi to Phil Collins, from Lucio Dalla to Supertramp, from Pino Daniele to Stelvio Cipriani, the new album immediately entered the programming of over 20 Italian radios as the best “Jazz Album” of the week.
The album's tracklist includes: “Vivere” (Vasco Rossi), “Goodbye Stranger” (Supertramp), “Attimo per attimo” (Antonio Amurri), “Easy” (Lionel Richie), “Anonimo Veneziano” (Stelvio Cipriani), “Se io fossi un angelo” (Lucio Dalla), “Never Can Say Goodbye” (Clifton Davis), “La voce del silenzio” (Mogol/Limiti), “Please Don't Go” (Harry Wayne KC Casey/ Richard Finch), “Against all odds” (Phil Collins), “Anima” (Pino Daniele).
SHATTERED/SGRETOLATA
Released in October 2016, Greta Panettieri's album "Shattered - Sgretolata" is the fifth in the production of the multifaceted singer and composer, recorded between Rome and New York. This work, composed almost entirely of original songs, is a 360° portrait of her multifaceted personality and her virtuoso artistic path, which has always gone beyond the definition of genre and style.
Special guests on the album: Claudio “Greg” Gregori, great vocal protagonist and author of the lyrics of “Oppure no”, from New York the drummer Mauricio Zottarelli and the bassist Itaiguara Brandao, one of the leading jazz guitarists Francesco Diodati and three pillars of the Italian jazz saxophone Max Ionata, Alfonso Deidda and Cristiano Arcelli.
I DON'T PLAY ANYMORE
Non Gioco Più is an album in which the suggestions of two almost parallel worlds live: that of jazz, with its escapes forward and improvisations associated with nocturnal and smoky atmospheres and the Italian singer-songwriter songs of the Sixties and Seventies, which also drew on overseas sounds and which take us back to a time when television entertainment proposed, without competitors, musical genres and social models.
Some of those songs that have remained imprinted in the hearts and memories of millions of Italians, written by composers including Ennio Morricone, Bruno Canfora and Gianni Ferrio, for great voices like Mina, are present in this work that Greta Panettieri has created with her great friends and collaborators such as: Andrea Sammartino, Armando Sciommeri, Giuseppe Bassi and with three exceptional guests: Alfonso Deidda, Gaetano Partipilo and Fabrizio Bosso.
